How much should I budget for wedding flowers?

Traditionally wedding florals account for approximately 10% of your total wedding budget. Though this would fluctuate depending on how much floral decor matters to you. 


When should I contact you to discuss the flowers for my wedding?

It depends on your wedding date. Six to nine months prior to your wedding date is most common. However, we are able to help plan an event with much tighter timelines as well. For the busiest times of year (May-September) the earlier you contact us the better. Just remember, we work on a first come first serve basis and bookings are only confirmed once a 50% non-refundable deposit has been received.


What should I bring to my consult?

All your ideas and photo references! We know part of the joy of planning your wedding is being able to spend hours searching for inspo photos on Pinterest and Instagram. Here are some other things to bring: color swatches of your bridesmaids dress, color swatch of the groom's suit and groomsmen suits, a list of must have items (ie. 4 bouquets, 4 boutonnieres, and 10 center pieces), a picture of your dress, an idea of how your hair will be, and someone who knows your vision and is invested in your florals financially (typically your fiance, a parent, or a close friend).


How long will my consult take?

On average 45 - 60 minutes.


Do you help set up and take down and how much does it cost? 

We do offer set up and take down services. If you have an elaborate wedding with multiple pieces that require special attention, it is worth having us come set up.  The price will depend on how many people it will take to execute your set up and what time frame is available to us.  Sometimes we only get a 2 hour window requiring 5+ people to help.  Other times our set up is at 7 in the morning outside of the city. All of these things get factored into the cost.


If I don't want a consult What information do I need to provide to help you create a quote?

We ask that you fill out our contact sheet in detail and send us a few photos to get the ball rolling.  From there we will connect with you via email to work out the details.


Do you have a minimum spend?

We do not, though we do caution that the less you order from us does not necessarily mean you will be saving. 


what if I only want one bouquet?

If you are only requiring one bouquet for your wedding we would be happy to design one for you. But please know that this may cost you anywhere from $400-$600.  Here's why it will cost you more:  each type of flower comes in a bunch of 5, 10 or 25.  If you would like a bouquet with 10 different types of flowers we would have to order 10 different bunches between $30-$50/bunch.  Even though we may only need 20 stems for your bouquet,  we would have to buy all 100 stems to get the different types of flowers.  Same goes for greenery.  And because we do not have a store front the leftover flowers cannot be sold to recuperate the costs.


How do I go about securing fall for florals for my wedding?

We require is a 50% deposit of your final quote to secure your date. 


What should I expect after the first consult?

Depending on how much we need to do and how busy we are, we will typically respond with a first draft of the proposal within two weeks. The proposal will have a total for our services as discussed during the consult.  This draft is an opportunity to make sure that we have captured your vision and gives you a chance to make a first round of edits. After all edits have been made we generally allow 2 weeks after the final proposal is submitted to confirm the date with a 50% deposit and signed contract. 


I know what my style is, but don't know any specific flowers that I like.  Can you help recommend flowers that would match my style?

Absolutely!  Though we do ask that you give us a little flexibility.  We will do our best to capture your vision, but please know sometimes we are limited when it comes to specific flower types that are often found on Pinterest that are not available in Canada.


Are all flowers available year round?

The short answer is no. Most flowers are seasonal with different varieties available at different times of the year. Your options would be discussed at your consultation.


Do you make mock ups?

We do not.  Here is why: you will be paying big bucks for a mock up that will likely not be what you see at your wedding.  Different flowers are available during different times of the year, and we cannot guarantee that we can get our hands on the same flowers from the mock up in the same shade for your wedding day.


Do you offer other services other than floral design?

We like to focus on what we do best (which is flowers) and leave the rest to other professionals. Check out our Vendor Love for a list of talents we have worked with in the past with top notch service, style and professionalism.


Will you Travel to an on-site consultation after our initial consult?

You bet we will!  The cost for any on-site consultation within the city is $200 for up to 2 hours at the venue.


What area do you service?

Calgary and surrounding areas up to 200km outside of the city.


Do you work with silk flowers?

We do not.


My sister-in-law would like to contribute to our wedding by designing our centerpieces. can we buy flowers and greenery from you for her to design with?

If you are booking with Fall for Florals, we ask that all fresh floral be designed by one of our team members to keep the design aesthetic cohesive.


When is my payment due?

50% will be due at time of booking to secure your date, the remaining 50% is due 6 weeks prior to your wedding.  We do not order the flowers until the remaining balance is received.


What is your refund and cancellation policy?

The 50% deposit paid at time of booking for saving your date is non-refundable and non-transferable.  Should your wedding be cancelled/postponed 6 weeks before the booked date the remaining balance will not be due.  However, if the wedding is cancelled/postponed within 6 weeks of your wedding your full balance will be forfeited.  We would be happy to delivery all the flowers to you or donate them to your choice of charity.


I live out of town and am not able to meet in person until just before my wedding. Can I still work with you?

Absolutely! There's always Skype and phone calls we can communicate through for a scheduled consult.


How do I save my flowers after the wedding?

Great question!  We have recently fallin' in love with custom pieces made by Oxeye Floral Co and Debbie Wong Design.
